Effective communication will be the hallmark of the Skip Mason administration! I shall be HONEST! TRUTHFUL! and ALWAYS WILLING TO LISTEN
While the current Strategic Plan will be used to govern the programmatic future of the fraternity, we will pay special attention to several areas that will help to strengthen the brotherly focus of the fraternity including:
1. College Brothers (CALLIS-College Alphas Leading, Learning, Inspiring, Sharing)- The continued development, nurturing and inclusion of college brothers in all fraternity matters and affairs will be the priority of this administration. College brothers, you are our most valuable commodity. Programs currently offered for their leadership development will be expanded to include a larger number of brothers throughout the country. College brothers, you will chair and co-chair key committees and commissions and provide exemplary leadership. Your voices will be heard!!
2. Senior Alpha Brothers(SAGE- Senior Alphas Guiding Effectively)- The true treasure of Alpha Phi Alpha is the wisdom and knowledge of our Senior Alphas. Brothers, your collective wisdom will be celebrated and you will receive privileges and services you so richly deserve. No Senior Alpha Brother will be subjected to long lines at General conventions! One of the immediate tasks of the Director of Conventions would be to logistically determine the best method to meet the needs of Senior Alphas and those with special needs when it comes to registration, attending events and activities, etc.
3."House of Alpha" meetings - (formerly known as Town Hall Meetings) The Skip Mason administration will conduct a series of "House of Alpha" meetings which will include "Listening Sessions" to hear the issues and concerns affecting brothers throughout the country. These concerns will be documented, researched, and prioritized and will serve as a guiding compass during my administration of items affecting the brotherhood.
4. Membership Intake - Throughout Alpha, the discussion over the merit of the current Intake Process continues. As a brotherhood, we probably will never be able to completely satisfy all members on an Intake method, however, the Skip Mason administration will be open to listening to brothers thoughts and opinions on ways to enhance the current process ultimately leading to one which will serve the best interest of the fraternity. While critically examining the Intake process, a keen focus will also rest on Retention of those already in the House of Alpha.
5. Corporate Office (Service and Physical Structure)- Effective communication, prompt and courteous service will be the standard during the Skip Mason administration. Recommendations will be acted upon regarding the functionality of the current headquarters to insure that it is meeting the needs of the staff and the brotherhood.
6. Communications and Technology - Quarterly issues of The Sphinx magazine will be delivered both via USPS mail and electronically for those wishing to view it on line. The online edition will also serve as a tool for reclamation. The National Web site will be visually pleasing and will provide easy access and navigation for members to receive online services. Additionally, the web site will allow for members and non-fraternity members to acquire needed information about the fraternity.
7. General Conventions - Future General Conventions will provide programs, speakers, activities and services befitting of this fraternity. Brothers will leave conventions renewed and invigorated. The registration process will be effective and expedient. The programs for the Alpha wives and women will be substantive and will utilize the vast talents and resources of our Alpha women who are leaders in every respective field of endeavors. In addition to the fashion shows and shopping sprees, there will be a series of programs, speakers, workshops based on their needs and desires as indicated in listening sessions of wives prior to conventions.
When we are able to restore the fraternal infrastructure and mend our brothers collectively, then these seven tenets will be the flag bearer of the Skip Mason administration, your administration:
